  • Party Secretary Wang Qiao Led JUFE’s Delegation to Visit Universities in Poland and Croatia

  • In response to the invitation of the Kozminski University, the Cracow University of Economics, and the Zagreb School of Economics and Management, Party secretary of JUFE Committee of JUFE - Wang Qiao led a delegation to successfully visit the above three universities from October 19 to 26, 2018, together with Chen Shifa - Dean of the School of Marxism Studies, Pan Dan - Vice President of the School of Economics, and Xiao Long - Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange.

    During the visit to the Kozminski University, Professor Witold Bielecki - President of the University, Professor Robert Razadca - Vice President of International Affairs, Marin Matyja - International Project Coordinator, and Valentyna Guminska - Head of the Office of International Affairs, warmly welcomed Wang Qiao and his entourage and conducted a cordial and friendly conversation.

    The two parties reviewed the achievements in terms of student and teacher exchanges between the two university since the principal - Lu Fucai visited Kozminski University in September 2017. Wang Qiao briefly introduced the latest achievements of JUFE in the past year, focusing on the good results in the new doctoral-degree authorization point and the fourth round of subject evaluation, and hoped to enhance JUFE’s international education level by conducting scientific research cooperation with the Kozminski University. President Witold Bielecki thought highly of the educational achievements by JUFE. He hoped that on the basis of the existing exchanges between teachers and students, both the two-way student exchange and the regular teacher exchange mechanisms would be formed to promote in-depth cooperation between the two universities.

    The two counterparts conducted comprehensive and in-depth discussions on the Erasmus+ (European Erasmus Scholarship) project, the China Europe Scholarship Program, the undergraduate 2+2 dual degree program, the joint master and doctor degree training, and teachers’ research cooperation. Kozminski University agrees to include our school as an overseas non-EU national partner institution in the Erasmus+ program, and will prepare all application materials and submit them to the EU by the end of this year; the exchange program with Kozminski University will be included in the China Europe Scholarship Program and will be submitted to the China Scholarship Council at the end of this year. Both sides will assign directors respectively to conduct the course matching process before the mutual recognition of credits, and promote the 2+2 dual degree program of finance majors; both sides will assign relevant researchers to conduct collaborative research on family business heritage, innovative corporate governance, and the relationship between financial institutions and regional or sub-regional development; both sides intend to set up joint research centers to fund their respective researchers, regular exchange and interaction, joint application of research project and international publication in accordance with 1:1 capital investment. Kozminski University also gave a detailed introduction to its successful experience in the three international certifications of AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA, and made specified comments and advice for JUFE’s current circumstances.

    During his visit to the Cracow University of Economics in Poland, Wang Qiao and his entourage held cordial and friendly talks with Vice-President Professor Janina Filek, International Director Renata Wydmanska, Professor Dominika Choros Mrozowska of the Department of Economics, and Dr. Sylwia Rutkowska - the head of the doubole degree program and the international program. Prof. Janina Filek-the Vice Chancellor-highly appreciate the successful cooperation of students exchange programs between the two universities, hoping that the two universities would continue to sign the cooperation agreement.

    Wang Qiao and Janina Filek gave brief introductions to the efforts and achievements by the two universities, especially in the area of education internationalization, and held in-depth discussion on the establishment of the Confucius Institute, the “Studying Abroad in JUFE” project, teacher and student exchanges under the Erasmus+ framework, economic managerial disciplines cooperation and scientific research cooperation and the establishment of the Central and Eastern European Research Center (Poland).

    At the end of the meeting, Cracow University of Economics also agreed to include our school as an overseas non-EU national partner institution in the Erasmus+ program. All application materials will be prepared and submitted to the EU by the end of this year; our school will continue the Central and Eastern Europe Credits Scholarship Program and to support the students of Cracow University of Economics to study in China. Both parties expressed that they would support the teachers of the School of Economics in the two universities to form a regular exchange and mutual visit mechanism and carry out cooperation in teaching and research thus pushing the cooperation between the two universities to a new height.

    During the visit to the Zagreb School of Economics and Management in Croatia, Dr. Duro Njavro, President of the school, and Mr. Javier Aguayo, International Director, accommodated the delegation. It had been JUFE’ first visit to ZESM since the two parties signed a cooperation agreement in 2015 to carry out university-level exchange program.

    The two sides first gave a brief introduction to their respective schooling circumstances, and then discussed in detail about the student exchange, 2+2 undergraduate double degree program, 3+1+1 bachelors-masters project, student internship and employment recommendation, school-enterprise cooperation, and teacher exchanges. The two sides unanimously expressed their willingness to use various channels to increase the influence of the counterpart universities in their own schools and countries, respond to China's The Belt and Road Initiative, continue student and teacher exchange, immediately launch 2+2 undergraduate dual-degree program and the 3+1+1 master program, and actively facilitate JUFE students global internship and job seeking through the platform of the Zagreb School of Economics and Management. Finally, Principal Duro Njavro also shared their successful experience in obtaining AACSB certification in just 16 years of school history.

    During the visit to the three universities, Wang Qiao also met with the teachers, students and alumni who were studying abroad to have a better knowledge of their studies and living situations. Wang encouraged them to make full use of valuable learning opportunities and excellent learning resources to successfully complete their studies and training tasks. He also hoped that they would become a bridge between JUFE and foreign institutions and further promote the school's international cooperation and exchanges.

    1.     2. The Cracow University of Economics of Poland was founded in 1925. It is the largest public economic university in Poland. It is an economic university focusing on computer science and business. The school is the first university in Poland to introduce English teaching courses. Cracow University of Economics focuses on the development of academic research, cooperation with relevant institutions and famous universities to cultivate students collaboratively, and has established friendly and close cooperative relations with more than 200 foreign universities. The school's majors include administration, economics, European studies, MBA (Master of Business Administration), international relations, commodity science, management, and MPA (Master of Public Administration) and so on.

     

    3.The Zagreb School of Economics and Management (ZSEM) was established in 2002 and is the largest private higher education institution in Croatia. In 2013, it became the first AACSB certified business school in Croatia, becoming one of the top 5% of the world's best business schools, and has been awarded the title of “Best Business School in Croatia” for five consecutive years. In the Eduniversal Global Business School survey, ZSEM is the highest-scoring school in southeastern Europe. The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in economics, management, finance, marketing, and accounting, with particularly outstanding subject of economics. ZSEM's Student Future Day was named the leading professional event in Croatia. The employment rate of graduates is very high. More than 15% of students are employed in countries and regions outside the EU.
